The following list, which I am certain will grow, is a list of thanks to all who have provided support. If I have missed anyone, I apologize.

The Schiemann Family

The Johnston Family

The Gordon Family

The Myrol Family

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Intellectual Property Unit, Ottawa.

The Mounted Police Foundation.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police S. R. R. Unit, Edmonton

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Media Relations Unit, Edmonton

Mr. Daryl Brown, a young member I work along side with.  He has volunteered so much of his time in attending meetings, running errands, delivering items, the list goes on.  Daryl your friendship, hard work and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Cst. Rob Schmidt, a very good friend who has taken on the task of dispersing and looking after the Memorial Pin distribution and sales for southern Alberta (Red Deer south).

And I must not forget my dear wife Colleen, she has not seen much of me for the last while.  She has been so very supportive and encouraging throughout.  She has also put in a lot of time helping with the numerous items that come up and the multitude of phone calls that we receive all hours of the day.  May you always know I love you.  Thank you for your support, encouragement, tolerance and thoughtfulness.

The members in the Divisions who have stepped forward and given themselves in handling the distribution for their Province.  Thank you for the time and effort you have freely given.  I, as do the families extend my sincere gratitude.  Again, Thank you.

To all the people who have supported us by purchasing a Memorial pin, and to all those who have given freely to our cause.  Thank you.

To all the people, stores, companies and employees who have stepped forward to help with distribution and sales of the Memorial Pin, Thank You!  Your support is greatly appreciated.  Without you, this would have been so much harder to accomplish.

To All Canadians: WE STAND ON GUARD FOR THEE!

Wayne; Thank you for all your support, hard work and dedication, without you this could not have come together.  I highly recommend your services!  I know we will work together on this and other projects for many more years to come.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veterans Association

In Edmonton, I have adopted Anne Mattice as my second mom.  Anne has come out of retirement and works harder now than ever!  She has provided so much support and has put in many long hours working and attending meetings with me.  I feel guilty for creating all this work for her, but she tells me she is enjoying this.  Thank you Anne.

As well thank you to the Veterans Associations which have come forward to distribute the Memorial Pin, and the members assisting with the mailing campaign in Edmonton.

Mayfield inn and Suites, Edmonton

Thank you Christina, the Management and staff for donating us your facility for our press release on June 9th .  The pastries, and beverages you supplied and the room you set up was spectacular and met our needs greatly.  This support has helped us achieve a great start to our goal.  Kindness is not forgotten!

Royal Rubber Stamp and Sign, Edmonton

Trish;  Thank you and the staff and Management for the donation of two vinyl banners for display purposes of our Memorial Pin.  The rush that was placed on you and the outcome of the product you supplied was very high quality and we received numerous comments on how great the banners were.  Thank you.

News Release - Alberta

“We Remember 2005" memorial pin, Calgary launch

Calgary, Alberta 2005 JUN 24

March 3, 2005 brought our nation to a state of disbelief. Constables Anthony Gordon, Leo Johnston, Brock Myrol, and Peter Schiemann tragically lost their lives in service to their country as members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police while carrying out their duties near Mayerthorpe, Alberta.

On Monday, June 27, 2005 the commemorative pin, We Remember 2005, officially sanctioned by the RCMP will be front and center for it’s Calgary launch, dedicated to the memory of four of Canada’s finest. Hours prior to the Edmonton launch on June 9 the first order had been quickly picked up by a handful of distributors in Alberta. All 25, 000 have since been sold, more pins have been ordered and 2000 will be on hand for this event. Orders have been pouring in from across Canada at a steady pace. The overwhelming response exemplifies Canadian’s respect for law enforcement officers.

The Calgary launch will take place at Fort Calgary, Main Floor in the Officer’s Mess , 750 9 Avenue S.E. Calgary, Monday, June 27 at 11:00 AM. The relationship between Fort Calgary and the RCMP makes this location a perfect setting. Diane Gordon, Director of Hbc Heritage and Community Investment from The Hudson Bay Company will be in attendance for major announcement. Family members of the fallen officers will also be on hand to address those in attendance. We will hear from Constable Doug Winkleman, the pin’s founder, on the history and effort that has gone into this project. Proceeds will go to funds established to assist the families and other dedicated memorial initiatives.

The public is invited to attend this launch, 2000 pins will be available on a first come, first served basis.

A website has been established in support of the pin at www.alwaysremembered.8m.com .
